Fintonia’s Weekly Update (19th August 2025): Who’s Buying Bitcoin This Week?

Updated: Aug 27

ree

In this edition of Fintonia Market Pulse, Michael Saylor’s Strategy acquired 430 BTC for US$51.4M this week, pushing total holdings to 629,376 BTC. Despite both Bitcoin and MSTR stock dipping, the firm continues its steady weekly accumulation.

Meanwhile, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent confirmed the government holds US$15–20B in seized Bitcoin and has paused all sales. This shift signals BTC is now being treated as a strategic reserve asset alongside gold.

Last but not least, Japan’s Metaplanet added another 518 BTC worth US$61.4M, bringing its holdings to 18,113 BTC. The Tokyo-listed firm continues its aggressive accumulation strategy, delivering a year-to-date yield of 468.1%.

Overall, the steady accumulation by Strategy, U.S. policy shifts, and Metaplanet’s rapid growth highlight Bitcoin’s rising role as a strategic reserve and long-term store of value.
